We were in Regina over Easter and stopped at the Mackenzie to see a memorial exhibition of native artwork from across North America. The entire show was really great, but what really grabbed me were the incredible carvings. A number were grouped together that were particularly odd and fanciful. My favourite may have been the 'were rabbit.'
A wonderful way to spend a lazy evening. His life was so interesting, and sometimes awful, that it's easy to see where his books came from.
It could be said that braiding my daughter's hair a way of living vicariously through her. Well, she wants to cut it all off and donate to little kids who aren't as lucky as her. Its coming off tonight, and I feel both proud and sad. Video to come, I'm sure.
